Happiness…….. We chase it like a butterfly running faster, reaching further only to realize it often lands quietly on our shoulder when we stop. The truth is, happiness isn’t hidden in some complicated formula. It’s already here, waiting in the simple choices we make every day.
1. The Joy
Happiness isn’t always in big milestones it’s often in the smallest moments.
- That first sip of your favourite drink.
- The smell of your perfume.
- A smile from a stranger that brightens your day.
Each night, write down three small things that made you smile. You’ll realize happiness is always sprinkled through your day you just need to notice it.
2. The Comparison
Scrolling through social media, it’s easy to think, “They have it better.” But comparison is a trap it blinds us to what we already have. Gratitude, on the other hand, flips the lens.
Instead of thinking, “My house is small,” say, “I have a roof over my head and a place to call home.”
Starting a gratitude ritual. Every morning, say out loud one thing you’re thankful for before touching your phone.
3. The Present Thinking
We waste so much time waiting for the “perfect” moment to be happy perfect job, perfect body, perfect relationship. But perfection is endless chasing. Presence is endless peace.
Instead of eating dinner while scrolling your phone, sit down, savor the food, and actually taste every bite. That’s happiness.
Picking up with one daily activity (like walking, eating, or talking to someone) and do it without distractions.
4. The Connection
Happiness grows when it’s shared. A laugh with a friend, a kind word to a colleague, or even a small act of kindness for a stranger can fill you with warmth.
Think of the last time you helped someone carry their bags or complimented their effort it likely made you feel happier too.
Making it a habit to do one act of kindness daily no matter how small.
5. The Simplicity
We complicate happiness by piling on too much too many expectations, possessions, and worries. True happiness is about needing less, not more.
Decluttering your room can make you feel lighter. Saying “no” to unnecessary commitments can free your mind.
Each week, remove one unnecessary thing an object, a negative thought, or an obligation.
6. The Daily Happiness
Happiness isn’t a destination, it’s a decision. Every morning, you get to choose whether you’ll complain or appreciate, whether you’ll stress or smile, whether you’ll live in the past or step into today.
Start your day by asking yourself: “What is one thing I can do today that will make me happy?” Then do it no matter how small.
Final Note
We at Mentoring Minds Counsellors understand that happiness is simple because it doesn’t ask for perfection, wealth, or a flawless life. It only asks that you slow down, notice, and choose joy in the moment you’re in.
The secret isn’t about waiting for the right day to come it’s about creating happiness from the day you already have.
